Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Virtual Specialist to join the Virtual Specialist Consult department.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
The Virtual Specialist Consult (VSC) service is expanding specialist offerings, providing tele-video consultation with community-based clinicians. This position will aim to fast-track patient access to specialist advice, particularly for rural/remote patients, or for those with general practitioners wanting to manage their patients in the community supported by expert advice.
This position is responsible for providing one-off consultations and linking into community services for patients referred by Virtual Emergency Department from rural and regional locations, as well as, providing expert advice to community healthcare providers to allow care to be managed in the community.
The VSC welcomes interest from any specialist clinician who believes there is value in offering this service in their area of expertise. We are looking for paediatric and adult specialists in gynaecology, surgery, gastroenterology, haematology, ENT, rheumatology, pain medicine, allergy, infectious diseases rehabilitation medicine and psychiatry.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and good working knowledge in specialty management
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety and strategies to address service access
- Well-developed effective communication skills utilising a Telehealth system
- Undergraduate or postgraduate medical degree is essential
- Relevant specialty qualifications such as Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
