SALARY: The salary range for this position is $79,098.16 to $123,272.27 for Schedule A, and $79,098.16 to $117,108.66 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B. The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth. The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a statistical analyst for the Children in Courts/Civil research team. The selected individual will perform a variety of medium to high-level research functions relating to research study design, data extraction, data analysis, and project management and implementation. The selected candidate will develop and use appropriate and practical methodology to design and manage research projects; perform simple to moderately complex statistical analysis of court data sets utilizing Excel, SPSS, Stata, Focus/WebFocus, SAS, Python, PowerBI/Tableau or other software; manage and clean data in SQL Management Studio or other data management software; and prepare, present and disseminate research findings. REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 3 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. • Prepares regular and ad hoc statistical reports using Excel, SPSS, SQL, SAS Stata, Python, Focus/WebFocus, PowerBI/Tableau, or other tools as appropriate. • Translates requests for statistics and analyses into appropriate responses that may require designing research questions, understanding complex court data, discussion with internal stakeholders, and extraction of data from systems. • Validates/cleans data extracts and conducts high-level statistical analysis with resulting datasets. • Converts complex data into understandable charts, graphs, reports, and statistical presentations. • Develops proof of concept methods for displaying and/or visualizing data and implements approved visualizations. • Collaborates with the Information Technology Unit and Automated Trial Court Services Unit on plans for data system updates from the data analysis perspective, as needed. • Facilitates the reporting of New Jersey statistics and court organization information to external stakeholders. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and five years of professional experience, three (3) years of which should include experience conducting social science research, including multivariate data analysis. Experience with administrative, especially court, data would be helpful, as would experience conducting research on child welfare involvement and outcomes. Experience with qualitative methods (e.g., focus groups, interviews, etc.) a plus. Intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. Intermediate to expert knowledge of SPSS or Stata is strongly preferred. Experience with software such as SAS, SQL, PowerBI/Tableau, or Focus/WebFocus would be helpful. Relevant areas of study/college major: statistics, criminology, criminal justice, public administration, political science, psychology, sociology, public policy, economics or other relevant discipline Note: Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree is strongly preferred.
