Position Overview
WOCOTM is seeking a creative, strategic, and mission-driven Social Media Content Creator (USA) to help shape and strengthen the organization’s digital presence.
This volunteer role plays a vital part in expanding awareness, increasing engagement, and amplifying our advocacy and programmatic initiatives across multiple social media platforms. The Social Media Content Creator will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to develop compelling, culturally responsive content that reflects our values and inspires action.
This is an ideal opportunity for a communications professional, emerging digital strategist, or creative storyteller who is passionate about equity, empowerment, and nonprofit impact.

Key Responsibilities
Content Development & Storytelling
• * Create engaging, mission-driven content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and TikTok.
• Develop captions, short-form posts, graphics concepts, and storytelling narratives aligned with WOCOTM’s brand voice.
• Translate organizational initiatives, programs, and events into compelling digital content.
• Tailor messaging to platform-specific audiences and engagement styles.
• Collaborate with designers and team members to enhance visual storytelling.
Social Media Strategy & Campaign Support
• * Assist in developing and executing social media content calendars.
• Support awareness campaigns, fundraising initiatives, advocacy efforts, and program promotions.
• Research trends, hashtags, and engagement strategies to increase visibility and reach.
• Monitor engagement metrics and provide insight-driven recommendations.
• Identify innovative storytelling formats such as reels, carousels, testimonials, and short-form video.
Brand Alignment & Quality Assurance
• * Ensure all content aligns with WOCOTM’s mission, values, and brand standards.
• Edit and proofread content for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
• Maintain inclusive, culturally responsive, and empowering messaging.
• Uphold ethical communication practices and confidentiality when required.
Collaboration & Digital Engagement
• * Partner with internal teams to gather program highlights and impact stories.
• Support cross-functional marketing and outreach initiatives.
• Participate in virtual marketing meetings and strategy sessions.
• Engage with online community members in alignment with brand guidelines (as assigned).
Technology & Tools
• * Utilize AI tools to enhance productivity and content development.
• Work within Microsoft 365 and shared collaboration platforms.
• Use Canva, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools for content coordination (preferred).
Additional duties may be assigned as organizational needs evolve.
Volunteer Role Notice
This is a non-paid, volunteer role. Individuals serving in this capacity are not employees of the organization and do not receive financial compensation or employment benefits. Time commitment expectations and responsibilities will be mutually agreed upon in writing.
Qualifications
Education & Background
Preferred
• * Coursework or degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
• Training or certification in social media marketing, digital communications, or content strategy.
Experience & Competencies
• * Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Experience creating content for social media platforms or digital campaigns.
• Knowledge of current social media trends, analytics, and platform best practices.
• Ability to communicate with empathy, cultural awareness, and purpose.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a remote, collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and virtual collaboration tools.
• Familiarity with Canva, Meta Business Suite, or similar platforms preferred.
• Experience working in nonprofit, volunteer-driven, or mission-focused environments preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
