About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Global Connectivity
arenaflex was founded on the daring belief that humanity’s destiny lies among the stars. By
developing cutting‑edge space‑based communications technology, arenaflex is turning that vision
into reality: a world where anyone, anywhere, can access high‑speed internet, regardless of
geography or infrastructure. Our mission is as bold as it is simple – to create a resilient,
planet‑wide network that empowers individuals, supports communities, and drives economic growth.
From remote rainforest classrooms to scientific outposts in Antarctica, from nomadic entrepreneurs
traveling in RVs to emergency responders in disaster zones, arenaflex’s satellite constellation
delivers reliable connectivity that changes lives.
As the world’s largest low‑Earth‑orbit satellite network, arenaflex designs, manufactures, and
operates every component of the system – from the space‑borne satellites to the millions of
customer terminals that sit on rooftops, vehicles, and portable kits worldwide. Today we are
looking for extraordinary engineering talent to expand the impact of this ambitious platform.
Role Overview – Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Customer Hardware
In this senior role you will join arenaflex’s Customer Hardware team, a high‑performing group
responsible for the end‑to‑end software that powers the devices millions of users rely on every
day. You will design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software that runs on custom‑built
hardware, ensuring the user experience is seamless, secure, and constantly improving. Your work
will have a direct, measurable impact on how people communicate across the globe.
Why This Position Is Unique
- Develop software for hardware that will be deployed to **millions** of devices worldwide.
- Build and own the deployment infrastructure that delivers updates to customers regardless
of location or connectivity challenges.
- Contribute to the design of proprietary phased‑array antenna and modem silicon that
underpins arenaflex’s high‑throughput satellite link.
- Shape a telemetry ecosystem that can ingest, process, and analyze **trillions** of data
points from fielded units.
- Architect robust, fault‑tolerant systems that resist adversarial attacks and extreme
environmental conditions.
Core Responsibilities
- Design & Implementation: Create highly available, fault‑tolerant
embedded solutions for consumer devices that operate autonomously for extended periods
with minimal maintenance.
- Architectural Collaboration: Participate actively in architecture,
design, and code reviews, providing constructive feedback and championing best practices.
- Prototyping & Validation: Develop rapid prototypes to prove key
concepts, quantify technical constraints, and iterate on hardware‑software integration.
- Manufacturing Partnership: Work closely with arenaflex’s manufacturing
facilities to transition designs from lab prototypes to mass‑production hardware.
- Embedded Development: Write clean, performant Linux‑based code for a
variety of processors and microcontrollers, including ARM, RISC‑V, and custom ASICs.
- Testing Infrastructure: Build and maintain test frameworks that support
virtualized hardware simulations, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing, and continuous
integration pipelines.
- Tooling Innovation: Invent and refine tools that enable frequent,
reliable software releases, automated test execution, and sophisticated data analysis.
- Telemetry & Analytics: Engineer scalable telemetry pipelines that
collect, aggregate, and visualize operational data from millions of devices in real time.
- Security & Resilience: Implement security controls and hardening
techniques to safeguard distributed systems against cyber‑threats and physical tampering.
Basic Qualifications – What You Must Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM
discipline **and** at least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, **or**
8 + years of hands‑on software development experience in lieu of a formal degree.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as C, C++, Go, Python, or Rust.
- Demonstrated experience with embedded or low‑level system development, including firmware
creation, device drivers, or RTOS environments.
Preferred Skills & Experience – What Sets You Apart
- Track record of designing, debugging, and deploying software that runs reliably in real‑world
embedded devices at scale.
- Creative problem‑solving ability combined with strong analytical skills and a solid grounding
in engineering fundamentals.
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, IPv6), radio‑frequency fundamentals,
electronics, and signal processing.
- Advanced debugging techniques, performance profiling, and systematic testing methodologies.
- Experience addressing security challenges in distributed systems, including encryption,
secure boot, OTA update authentication, and intrusion detection.
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for embedded
systems, and with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Buildbot.
- Knowledge of hardware description languages (HDL) or ASIC/FPGA design concepts is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when project milestones or critical incidents
demand rapid response.
- Eligibility to comply with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must
be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or otherwise able to obtain
the required export authorizations.
Compensation, Benefits & Perks
arenaflex offers a competitive salary range for senior software professionals, typically
between $160,000 and $220,000 per year**, depending on experience, expertise, and market
factors. In addition to base pay, you will be eligible for a comprehensive total rewards package
that may include:
- Performance‑based annual bonuses and discretionary incentive awards.
- Long‑term equity participation through stock options, restricted stock units, or
employee stock purchase plans at discounted rates.
- Full medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and eligible dependents.
- Retirement savings options, including a 401(k) plan with company match.
- Paid parental leave, generous vacation (minimum three weeks per year), and
10+ paid holidays.
- Short‑ and long‑term disability insurance, life insurance, and supplemental
accident benefits.
- Professional development budgets for conferences, certifications, and advanced
training.
- Access to cutting‑edge labs, prototyping equipment, and test facilities.
- Remote‑work flexibility combined with modern collaborative office spaces that foster
cross‑functional teamwork.
