They are seeking a Senior PHP API Developer to architect and maintain their core API, modernize legacy systems, and ensure code quality while collaborating with business partners and federal court systems.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement new API features using modern PHP practices
• Architect REST and RPC-style web services that are secure, scalable, and maintainable
• Modernize parts of the system that rely on aging technologies
• Integrate third-party services into the API
• Write secure code following industry best practices
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure reliability
• Oversee releases and deployment processes
• Fix bugs and resolve issues across the platform
• Implement version control best practices using Git and GitHub
• Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
• Read, write, and implement code that conforms to technical specifications
• Create and maintain runbooks and operational guides
• Work with business partners to help them integrate the API into their services
• Learn the technical aspects of the U.S. Bankruptcy System
• Communicate with federal courts to report software bugs and data entry errors
• Participate in architecture reviews and offer feedback to enhance overall system design
• Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to strengthen team expertise
Skills
• 7+ years of professional PHP development experience
• Proven track record of architecting and maintaining large-scale API systems
• Experience overseeing development of software projects through all stages of the development cycle
• Demonstrated ability to master complex systems by studying code
• Ability to read and write technical specifications
• Deep expertise in modern PHP, including all major language features
• Proficiency with Composer for dependency management
• Strong MySQL skills including query optimization, indexing strategies, and JOIN operations
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development
• Deep understanding of object-oriented design and component-based systems
• Experience designing and implementing REST and RPC-style web services
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
