Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support attorneys in all phases of federal intellectual property litigation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in federal court, proficient with CM/ECF electronic filing, and skilled in preparing polished legal documents for filing.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, briefs, declarations, and exhibits for filing in federal court
• File documents electronically using CM/ECF, including sealed and redacted filings where applicable
• Ensure filings comply with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, local rules, and judge-specific requirements
• Create and update Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities in Microsoft Word
• Manage exhibits, appendices, and supporting documents for court filings
• Assist with case management, deadlines, and docket monitoring
• Coordinate service of filings and maintain organized electronic and paper case files
• Communicate with court clerks, opposing counsel, and vendors as needed
• Provide general litigation and administrative support to attorneys
Required Qualifications
• Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in litigation
• Proficiency with federal court CM/ECF electronic filing systems
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, including:
• Advanced formatting
• Styles
• Creating and updating Tables of Contents
• Creating and updating Tables of Authorities
• Ability to prepare court-ready documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Familiarity with federal court procedures and deadlines
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in intellectual property law (patent, trademark, copyright, or trade secret litigation)
• Experience with sealed filings, redactions, and compliance with local rules (e.g., CACD or other federal districts)
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal experience
Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
