Position Overview
At PlayPower, we design the future of outdoor play. Our brands—including Playworld, Miracle Recreation, and Little Tikes Commercial—shape how children of all abilities explore, move, imagine, and connect. Our Concept Design & Innovation team leads this mission by exploring emerging trends, dreaming up new play experiences, prototyping breakthrough concepts, and collaborating across engineering, marketing, product management, and manufacturing. We’re builders, storytellers, and future-shapers and we’re looking for a designer who wants to join that journey.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Achieves product design by performing the duties of an Industrial Designer, championing the Strategic effort to develop Meaningful and Relevant Innovative Play Equipment.
• Displays a clear understanding of play design.
• Displays a clear understanding of the Visual Brand Language
• Displays a clear understanding of the competition.
• Designs using various digital 3d modeling software, digital sketching software.
• Displays ability to use various AI platforms to create design concepts.
• Is CPSI certified and well versed in ASTM and EU compliancy.
• Completing Inclusive playground course work.
• Shows an understanding of competitive products.
• Contributes to team effort as a design leader.
• Helps build a positive/collaborative work culture.
• Works well with children and has a strong understanding of Human Centered Design
• Utilizing the Design Thinking/Creative Problem-Solving process and striving for a solution that corresponds with PlayPower Outdoor Play Brand Missions, Vision, Strategy Pillars and the 1–3-year Project Development Plan, and balances form and function, play value and price.
• Seeks out and gathers inspirational and influential material relating to Child Culture (such as the importance of Play, Child Development, movement/sports trends, toys, games, technology) and Design (color and from trends, trends in landscape Architecture and outdoor sculpture, new materials, and methods); gathering input from Research, Marketing, and Sales. Producing design criteria, play experience, product appearance, product function, product system.
• Managing design projects to meet target play value and design criteria, manufacturing cost, customer list price, and project deadlines.
• Disseminating concept and design work and information throughout the company.
• Utilizing and understanding the New Product Dev Milestone Process to deliver projects on time and in full.
• Actively collaborating with the Concept Dev. Team, R&D team, New Product Dev. Team and Project Team members
Qualifications, Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in design or a related field of study.
• Must have experience in a product design environment.
• Must be proficient in some form of drawing or rendering.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills.
• Must have effective written, oral, and visual communication skills.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment setting or may be exposed to noise if working in or around a production area. Constantly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Open communication is necessary with teammates, independent sales agencies worldwide and other departments. In addition, collaboration with team managers and project leaders throughout the company to achieve mutual goals is critical. Personal protective equipment required when entering production shop area. Some travel may be needed.
Position Location:
Schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, normal business hours. Only under special circumstance(s) will the person be allowed to work remotely and with express written consent of senior leadership.
Compensation:
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications, aligning with industry standards. The salary range for Lewisburg, PA, is also based upon geographical market standards for the industry and position in those areas.
There is a possibility of a bonus(es) based on individual performance and merit to be paid at the sole discretion of the company, but bonus(es) are not guaranteed unless outlined in writing in the offer letter extended to the candidate selected for the position.
