About the Role: Group X Instructor
As a Group X Instructor at Gold's Gym DC Metro Area, you'll play a vital role in leading and motivating our members through a variety of group fitness classes, promoting overall fitness, strength, and endurance. You'll be responsible for creating a positive and engaging atmosphere, ensuring the safety and well-being of our members, and providing expert guidance on exercise techniques and modifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads and delivers high-energy group fitness classes based on industry standards and approved formats, ensuring a fun and motivating experience for all participants.
- Instructs participants on effective workout methods, proper techniques, and exercise modifications, demonstrating a thorough understanding of group exercise principles and safe exercise practices.
- Provides clear verbal instructions, coaches, and motivates class participants to achieve their fitness goals, while continually monitoring for signs of injury, illness, or overexertion.
- Interacts with participants, answers questions, introduces and orients new participants, and solicits feedback to maintain long-term participation and member retention.
- Ensures all participants are using correct form during class and offers modifications and variations to accommodate diverse fitness levels.
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude, representing Gold's Gym group exercise in a professional manner and adhering to our code of conduct and policies.
- Consistently delivers scheduled classes, coordinates substitute instructors when necessary, and provides legally purchased music suitable for the class format.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the GGX room, ensures equipment is functioning correctly, and reports any repair needs to management.
- Accurately records hours worked and class attendance information, submitting reports to the Fitness Manager in a timely manner.
- Attends required staff meetings and training sessions to maintain and enhance teaching skills.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training (hands-on certification required; online certifications not accepted).
- Minimum six months of teaching experience in a group exercise environment, with demonstrated knowledge of group exercise principles and safe exercise techniques.
- Nationally recognized Group Fitness certification by ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or equivalent.
- Verifiable proof of specialized skill/training in areas such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Body Attack, etc.
- Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies, choreography, and safe transitional movement patterns, music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm.
- High degree of energy, physical fitness, and endurance to complete workouts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic physiology, human anatomy, kinesiology, body mechanics, and training principles.
- Engaging and motivational leadership with adaptability at the front of a class.
- Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications or specialized training in group fitness disciplines.
- Experience with choreography creation and modification.
- Knowledge of current fitness trends and industry developments.
