Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative to join our team in the State Disbursement Unit. As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for responding to customer service calls and correspondence according to Standard Operating Procedures and contact requirements. This is a full-time, remote work opportunity that offers a unique chance to work from the comfort of your own home while being part of a dynamic and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive calls from child support customers and other stakeholders, responding promptly and professionally following Standard Operating Procedures and contract requirements
- Process correspondence in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and contract requirements, ensuring timely and accurate responses
- Document correspondence and contacts in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and contract requirements, maintaining accurate and interrelated records
- Complete system and State system updates in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and contract requirements, ensuring seamless operations and compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Desired Knowledge and Abilities
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Knowledge of customer service techniques, including how to handle upset callers and resolve conflicts effectively
- Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening, with the ability to respond promptly to customer needs
- Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters, demonstrating empathy and understanding
- Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, with proficiency in data entry skills and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Windows products
- Ability to interpret, apply, analyze, and explain laws, procedures, and regulations pertaining to SDU payment processing procedures and programs
- Ability to maintain accurate and interrelated records, identify and resolve errors, and work with integrity and ethically
- Ability to work independently with little direction, meet schedules and timelines, and work confidentially with discretion
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to apply interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Education and Experience
We require:
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year prior experience in an area of service delivery, customer service, call center technology, or other related field
- OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work
Language and Computer Skills
You should be:
- Fluent in English - Speaking, Reading & Writing
- Proficient in data entry skills, including keyboard, mouse, and 10-key pad, with experience and knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Windows products
