Description
The Southern Africa Nazarene University in Eswatini has three faculties: Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Theology. The Faculty of Health sciences (FOHS) currently offers bachelor’s degrees in the following specialties: nursing and midwifery (BSNM), nursing anesthesia, medical laboratory science and two programs that started in 2025, pharmacy, and nursing (MScN) majoring in nursing education and leadership, and management. The MScN is a three-year program offered part-time with an intake of twenty (20) students each year.
The Southern Africa Nazarene University is seeking the support of one Virtual Service Pilot Participant (VSPP) to provide support to the Faculty of Health Sciences, bringing in expertise of teaching at the post-graduate level for the MScN program. The VSPP will co-review and co-teach nursing informatics coursework, allowing for new opportunities for faculty members to engage in various ways of curriculum design, planning, and teaching. This engagement will also allow students to expand their knowledge base and learn beyond the context of Eswatini. The university anticipates admitting 20 students for the MScN program. The mode of delivery for the course is both in-person and online. The nursing informatics course is a semester module offered once per week.
The organization has previously collaborated with the Peace Corps. They understand that the role of a VSPP is very different than a Peace Corps Volunteer or Peace Corps Response Volunteer.
