Position Summary
AUIB is seeking an experienced Associate Dean to drive academic excellence, research development, and operational leadership at the College of Health Sciences. Supporting the Dean, the role oversees faculty development, student success, accreditation, and strategic initiatives, while building partnerships with healthcare institutions to enhance clinical training. Key Responsibilities
- Research Development & Support: Promote research activities within CHS and support faculty in research planning, publication, and collaboration initiatives.
- Academic Leadership & Support: Support the Dean in leading academic and administrative functions across the College of Health Sciences.
- Faculty Support & Performance Management: Assist in faculty recruitment, development, evaluation, and workload planning to ensure effective teaching and academic delivery.
- Student Affairs & Academic Progress Monitoring: Monitor student academic performance, address academic concerns, and support retention, progression, and graduation requirements.
- Operational Planning & College Administration: Coordinate day-to-day academic operations, scheduling, policies, and internal processes to ensure smooth college functioning.
- Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Coordination: Contribute to strategic initiatives, represent the college in committees, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support CHS goals.
- Accreditation & Quality Assurance Leadership: Lead and oversee accreditation processes and continuous quality improvement initiatives for all CHS programs, ensuring full compliance with institutional and external accreditation standards.
- External Partnerships & Clinical Training Development: Establish and manage strategic partnerships with hospitals, ministries, and healthcare institutions to strengthen clinical training, practicum opportunities, and workforce alignment for CHS students.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated expertise in academic leadership, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
- Proven ability to support strategic planning initiatives and effectively implement institutional goals.
- Strong understanding of research development processes, faculty support mechanisms, and scholarly output requirements.
- Extensive experience overseeing undergraduate and graduate programs, including academic quality assurance and accreditation standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Education and Experience
- Required Education: PhD in a Health Sciences discipline, Public Health, Healthcare Management, Medical Education, or a related field.
- Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum: 8 years of experience in higher education, including academic administration and faculty leadership responsibilities.
- Specific Skills or Expertise:
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects, timelines, and institutional reporting.
- Sound decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Strong capacity to represent the college professionally with external partners, accrediting agencies, and regulatory bodies.
- Additional Certifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and Student Information Systems (SIS) preferred.
- Experience with accreditation documentation systems and reporting tools preferred.
