We are seeking an experienced Wikipedia Editor to help our clients navigate the platform’s complex ecosystem while ensuring their digital footprint is accurate, notable, and compliant .
The Role:
This is not a traditional copywriting gig. We need a specialist who understands the Conflict of Interest (COI) and Paid Contribution policies of Wikipedia.
You will be responsible for auditing current entries, drafting new articles that meet rigorous notability standards, and managing the "Talk" page community interactions.Key Responsibilities:
Notability Assessment: Evaluate B2B clients to determine if they meet Wikipedia’s specific criteria for businesses and executives.
Drafting & Editing: Create encyclopedic, neutral, and well-cited drafts using the MWA (Mainspace) or Sandbox process.
Sourcing: Identify and utilize high-quality, independent, third-party reliable sources (e.g., major business news, trade journals, peer-reviewed papers).
Policy Compliance: Ensure all edits adhere to WP: NPOV, WP: V, and WP: CORP.
Monitoring: Track pages for "vandalism" or unsourced changes and manage the response process.Required Qualifications:
Proven Track Record: An established Wikipedia account in good standing (we will ask for a history of successful edits/live pages).
B2B Expertise: Experience working with corporate entities, tech firms, or C-suite profiles.Transparency:
Full commitment to disclosing paid contributions as per Wikipedia’s Terms of Use.
Communication: Ability to explain Wikipedia's "Rules of Engagement" to our account managers and clients (i.e., managing expectations on what cannot be included).
