Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, the Sr. Indirect Tax Accountant individual will support and facilitate indirect tax compliance such as sales and use tax, personal property tax, business activity taxes, federal excise tax (FET), value added tax and related audits, notices, and research.
Job Location
This role is approved for a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site presence 3 days/week in either Atlanta (Chamblee, GA) or New York City.
Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Research and interpret indirect tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess impact to the business
Maintain and reconcile indirect tax accounts and supporting schedules
Prepare and respond to tax notices, inquiries, and information requests from taxing authorities
Support tax accruals and financial reporting related to indirect taxes
Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and operational teams to ensure accurate tax treatment in transactions and contracts
Assist with system configurations, testing, and maintenance of tax determination and reporting tools
Develop and maintain documentation of indirect tax processes and internal controls
Analyze transactional data to identify tax risks, exposures, and opportunities for recovery or savings
Participate in process automation and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table: Education & Certification Requirements
We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do:
4-year College Degree in Accounting or equivalent
Minimum 4 years’ experience in Indirect Tax
Ability to analyze, research, and clearly communicate complex tax rules.

Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and reviewing detailed financial data
Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and mouse for prolonged periods
Sufficient visual acuity to read and analyze detailed reports, spreadsheets, and tax documentation on screen and in print
Ability to speak and hear clearly for phone and virtual communications with internal teams, auditors, and tax authorities
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move between office work areas
Ability to lift and carry light office materials (up to approximately 15 pounds) such as files or a laptop
Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during prolonged analytical and detail-oriented tasks

Salary Range & Benefits
At Wheels Up, we believe in fair compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The compensation for this role ranges from $84,000/Yr. to $98,000/Yr., depending on a variety of factors.
We don’t typically start individuals at the top of the salary range; your place within the range is based on what you bring to the table. Additionally, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program, which rewards individual and organizational performance.
