JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant

SUMMARY: Oversees accounting and reporting, general ledger reconciliation, and accounting policy development; computes and prepares data for journal entries, general ledger, and related financial statements; oversees all accounting functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP
- Own and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including identifying and resolving discrepancies and unusual variances
- Analyze financial results and provide insights, trends, and recommendations to management
- Prepare and review internal financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses
- Research, interpret, and implement accounting standards; document and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Develop and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to support financial reporting needs, operational decisions, and process improvements
- Assist in cash flow analysis, forecasting support, and financial planning activities
- Support budgeting and variance analysis by comparing actual results to forecasts and identifying key drivers
- Review and monitor accounts receivable, deposits, and other balance sheet accounts for accuracy and proper classification
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and review of work performed by junior accounting staff, as applicable
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and optimization of accounting software and reporting tools
- Lead or contribute to special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Manage and review accounting for real estate portfolios, including property-level financials and consolidations
- Prepare and review rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and property operating reports
- Support accounting for multiple entities, including partnerships and LLC structures
- Assist with investor reporting and capital account tracking, as applicable
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accurate and timely payroll runs, tax filings, and compliance with all applicable regulations
- Prepare, review, and file quarterly sales tax returns, ensuring accurate reporting, proper classification of transactions, and compliance with state and local tax laws
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting or multi-entity environments
- Experience with real estate, property management, or multi-entity accounting environments strongly preferred
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing or leading components of the month-end close process
- Proven ability to review work, identify issues, and ensure accuracy and compliance
- Experience working with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, implement controls, and drive efficiency
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build effective working relationships
- Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors
- Prior experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior staff is a plus

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
