The Tax Analyst role involves assisting clients with complex state unemployment insurance tax matters, ensuring accuracy in tax rates, developing strategies for tax improvement, and providing informed analysis to support client decision-making.
Responsibilities
• Ensure accuracy of unemployment insurance (UI) tax rates and resolve discrepancies with state agencies
• Develop strategies to improve client tax positions and support planning through reports and projections
• Manage incoming tax documents, maintain organized records, and ensure compliance through agency communication
• Provide informed analysis and contribute to strategic discussions to support client decision-making
Skills
• 2 years of experience in a tax-related role involving State Unemployment Insurance (SUI)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
• Analytical approach to working with complex datasets
• Written and verbal abilities to support client relations and agency coordination
• Experience organizing workloads, demonstrating reliability under time constraints, and contributing in both solo and group efforts
• Exposure to multi-state tax environments or working with state agencies is beneficial
