They are seeking a licensed Immigration Attorney to provide paralegal and legal assistant support to U.S.-based immigration attorneys, focusing on case preparation and legal research for humanitarian immigration cases.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and assemble complex immigration applications including I-130, I-485, I-751, I-601A, VAWA (I-360), U visa (I-918), T visa (I-914), SIJS petitions, asylum applications (I-589), and naturalization (N-400)
• Review client intake information and organize supporting documentation (birth certificates, marriage certificates, police records, medical records, affidavits, etc.)
• Draft cover letters, legal memoranda, and case summaries for attorney review
• Prepare evidentiary exhibits and organize them according to USCIS filing requirements
• Conduct legal research on immigration law, case precedents, country conditions, and USCIS policy guidance
• Draft declarations, affidavits, and hardship statements for humanitarian cases
• Research state-specific requirements for SIJS predicate orders and family court filings
• Prepare legal briefs and memoranda on complex immigration issues
• Prepare removal defense packages including asylum applications, cancellation of removal filings, and bond motions
• Organize evidence for Immigration Court hearings (Master Calendar and Individual Hearings)
• Draft motions to terminate, motions to reopen, and motions to reconsider
• Compile country conditions evidence and expert witness materials
• Review applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with USCIS requirements
• Conduct internal quality checks before attorney final review
• Ensure all deadlines are tracked and cases are filed timely
• Maintain organized digital case files using Filevine case management software
• Draft client correspondence and case status updates for attorney approval
• Prepare interview preparation materials for USCIS interviews
• Translate documents (if applicable language skills)
• Assist with client document collection requests
• Provide detailed case notes and handoff summaries for U.S. attorneys each morning
• Participate in virtual team meetings (may require flexibility for U.S. business hours occasionally)
• Collaborate with U.S.-based paralegals and attorneys through Slack, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms
• Flag urgent issues or questions for attorney attention
Skills
• Licensed attorney (LLB + Bar Council enrollment in India)
• Hands-on experience preparing these specific USCIS forms: I-589 (Asylum applications), I-360 (VAWA self-petitions), I-918 (U visa) OR I-914 (T visa)
• Experience with removal defense / cancellation of removal
• Previous work with U.S. law firms or U.S. immigration organizations
• 3+ years legal experience
• Fluent English (legal writing level)
• Filevine, Clio, or MyCase experience
• EOIR court proceeding knowledge (Master Calendar/Individual Hearings)
• Trauma-informed approach to humanitarian cases
• Experience drafting I-601A hardship waivers, SIJS petitions, or N-400 applications
