Work you'll do
As an Industry SME Contractor supporting the project team, you will provide water utility domain expertise and technical architecture guidance to help shape modernization of infrastructure, operations, governance, and technology. You will support transformation across asset management, water quality/safety, utility performance improvement, analytics/data/AI, ERP/EAM, and cyber-informed operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide subject matter expertise on water utility industry trends, challenges, opportunities, and regulatory drivers.
• Contribute to modernization strategy development for water utilities, including capital programs and advanced asset management roadmaps.
• Provide technical architecture guidance for target-state capabilities across operations, data, applications, and integrations (e.g., SCADA ↔ EAM/ERP ↔ GIS ↔ analytics).
• Develop reports, recommendations, and client-ready presentations communicating findings, options, and implementation paths.
• Apply water utility best practices to project deliverables (asset lifecycle management, reliability, risk-based prioritization, performance management).
• Participate in and support client meetings/workshops; respond to industry and technical questions with credible, actionable guidance.
• Support solution design for water quality/safety, environmental monitoring, compliance workflows, and operational resilience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business, engineering, data, cyber, and technology) to help ensure feasible, scalable solutions.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of demonstrated experience in strategic planning for water utility modernization and capital programs.
• Demonstrated experience supporting delivery of advanced asset management initiatives (process, governance, data, and technology enablement).
• Strong understanding of utility operations, asset performance, and risk-based decision-making (including reliability-centered approaches).
Preferred Qualifications
• Hydraulic modeling: InfoWater, EPANET (or similar)
• GIS platforms and utility network data concepts
• EAM/asset systems: IBM Maximo, Cityworks (or similar)
• SCADA/OT operations and OT–IT integration fundamentals
• Reliability-centered maintenance/design; predictive maintenance approaches
• Regulatory compliance systems; environmental monitoring solutions
• Working knowledge of data/analytics/AI and cyber considerations in utilities
The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $350 - $400 per hour. The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
