The California Department of Justice is seeking a Field Representative to serve the people of California through education, regulation, and enforcement actions related to firearms. The role involves conducting inspections of licensed firearm dealers and providing training on compliance with state firearm laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Independently plans, schedules, conducts statewide inspections of California licensed firearm dealers to ensure compliance with state firearm laws and regulations
- Communicates with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives investigators regarding inspection findings or referrals
- Provides training to various stakeholders regarding reporting, California firearm laws and regulations, and other firearm related responsibilities
- Conducts inspections of licensed firearm dealers, ammunition vendors, manufacturers, and gun show producers to verify compliance with state gun show, firearm, and ammunition laws and regulations
Skills
- A willingness to travel via airplane and/or automobile for up to two weeks per month and occasionally work odd shifts such as evenings, weekends, and nights
