Northwestern University is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst Associate to support reporting and analytical needs across the Alumni Relations and Development organization. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing reports and dashboards using fundraising and advancement data, requiring intermediate SQL knowledge and collaboration with stakeholders for accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using various tools and methods
- Understand reporting needs of customers and document requirements as necessary
- Provide timely ad-hoc support to customer requests
- Become familiar with data models (CRM and data warehouse)
- Create functional or technical documentation on reports and processes as needed
- Promote self-service reporting and training amongst organization
- Collaborate with central IT team as needed for particular data and reporting processes
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree
- 1+ years of experience with SQL
- 6+ months experience with Tableau or Cognos
- Ability to translate business questions into structured data queries and reports; apply SQL to extract and analyze data; and identify and resolve data inconsistencies in a methodical way
- Ability to engage stakeholders to understand reporting needs, ask clarifying questions, document requirements, and communicate data insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail in validating report outputs, maintaining documentation, and supporting consistent, reliable reporting workflows
- 6+ months experience with salesforce lightning reports or crm analytics
- Experience working in advancement operations, supporting fundraising
- Familiarity with an advancement crm
