About the job Location: Remote License Required: Active California Bar (in good standing) Engagement: Part-Time | Contract-to-Hire Compensation: $75–$125/hour (DOE) Individual applicants only. We are a fast-growing business litigation and employment defense law firm seeking an experienced Business & Civil Litigation Attorney to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for a litigator who can step in immediately, manage active matters independently, and demonstrate long-term fit for a permanent role. While this role has a clear path to long-term placement, we will also consider strong candidates seeking a shorter-term engagement. Learn more about us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpXgzxdg_gY What You’ll Do • Manage business litigation and employment defense matters • Draft and respond to discovery (ROGs, RFPs, RFAs) • Take and defend fact and expert depositions • Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions and motions in limine • Participate in settlement negotiations and ADR • Advise clients on litigation strategy, risks, and outcomes • Collaborate with firm leadership and a seasoned support team What We’re Looking For • JD from an accredited law school • Active California Bar license with clean disciplinary record • 3+ years of business litigation and/or employment defense experience • Proven experience handling discovery and depositions independently, including drafting strategy and managing opposing counsel and handling all aspects of motions to compel • Strong command of California civil procedure and evidence • Experience appearing in California state court • Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a remote environment This is not a training role. Candidates must be able to contribute immediately with minimal supervision.
