Milltown Partners is a global advisory firm focused on communications and public policy challenges. They are seeking a Communications Analyst to provide research and analysis, monitor media discussions, and contribute to strategic communications efforts.
Responsibilities
- Finding and drawing insights from data and evidence to inform our advice
- Using research tools and platforms - including Factiva and Meltwater - to conduct high quality desk research, media analysis and insight generation
- Following a wide range of relevant industry and client news across multiple channels to understand the issues our clients are facing, including the views of supporters, critics, regulators and consumers
- Using AI tools - Claude, Gemini, Notebook LM - proficiently in order to contribute to high-quality outputs that meet client needs and our standards
- Contributing to the new business process
- Identifying the goal, and implications of different courses of action, to recommend the most effective approach
- Taking into account the client’s overall objectives and core audiences to ensure work and recommendations are relevant and useful
- Participating in team discussions to develop strategic and creative thinking for clients
- Developing your own interest in areas relevant to our clients and sharing your insights with clients and internal colleagues (eg. technology, policy or venture capital)
- Expressing ideas fluently and persuasively for a range of different audiences and channels
- Consistently producing rigorous, accurate and detailed work
- Drafting compelling written content and supporting the execution of significant communications moments (e.g. media briefings, frequently asked question docs)
- Learning how to tailor the style and content of verbal and written communication to different audiences and channels
- Clearly articulating recommendations and processes to implement them
- Planning and delivering priorities to meet agreed goals, timetable and budget
- Organizing yourself and others to support the delivery of client or internal work in a timely fashion
- Taking responsibility for team administration across client and internal needs (e.g. media monitoring, agendas, scheduling calls, tracking work)
- Adapting your project management style for different audiences
- Effectively practice time management to balance priorities across clients and within projects
- Actively communicating to keep teams informed and adapt to issues as they emerge
- Developing AI literacy while applying tools to drive the quality of research and analysis
- Using AI tools proficiently moving beyond simple prompts to more sophisticated applications
- Mastering data sources we can feed into AI tools (e.g. Factiva, Meltwater)
- Developing and refining prompts that produce high-quality outputs aligned with client needs and Milltown standards
- Contributing to the firm's AI knowledge base by sharing successful use cases, prompts, and lessons learned
- Staying current with AI tool capabilities and updates
- Applying AI tools responsibly ensuring all outputs meet quality and compliance standards
- Giving and receiving regular feedback to people at all levels in the firm
- Actively seeking input or assistance from others and reflecting their contributions in the work

Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including fluency in the English language
- Experience conducting research and translate findings into logical insights
- Proficiency in time management and project management
- An interest in reputation management and storytelling
- Desire to learn how to be an adviser
- Keen interest in a range of storytelling channels and their efficacy for different audiences (e.g. owned platforms, media reporting, social media commentary, policy speech making)
- Intellectual curiosity to develop subject matter expertise in new topics (e.g. attending events, reading, seeking out more experienced individuals)
- A highly motivated team member who values collaboration and learning from others
