Position Title: Adjunct Instructor Pool – Online Professional Development Education (OPDE) Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Lecturer Job Duties: Key Job Responsibilities: • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations Each department at the University of Wisconsin – Stout can maintain an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors for program needs. If hired from this pool, the instructor will be under the general supervision of the relevant department chair. The instructor is responsible for teaching courses as assigned. Teaching involves preparing for and holding classes in the modality assigned, maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on student work, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean. Department and/or College Description The (OPDE) program is a collaboration between the Teaching, Learning, and Leadership Department and Stout Online at UW-Stout. The OPDE program offers fully online, graduate level professional development courses and certificate programs designed for working adults and educators seeking to advance their careers in areas such as Instructional Design, Mathematics Instruction, and Reading Instruction. Many OPDE courses can be applied towards teaching license renewal or used as electives for UW-Stout degree programs. The OPDE program’s curriculum is designed and taught by experienced practitioners and instructors at UW-Stout, and across the country. For a full listing of OPDE courses, please see our website. Qualifications Minimal/Required Qualifications: • Doctorate in relevant field of course(s) or Master’s Degree in relevant field + 5 years of relevant professional experience • Professional experience in areas of expertise (Instructional Design, Mathematics Specialist, Reading Teacher, Reading Specialist, etc.) Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated experience teaching or facilitating online courses for adult learners • Proficiency in online learning management systems (Canvas, etc.) • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications • Strong written and interpersonal skills • Fluency in oral and written English communication Required Application Materials: • Cover letter* • Resume/CV • Please use your cover letter to describe your teaching specialty, relevant areas of expertise, and teaching interests.
